Mariano Rodriguez, son of a-wealthy Oorunna merchant, committed suicide because Signora Mercedes Cantabria, aged 18 years, refused to fulfil her promiso to marry him. This is the third tragedy, as the result of unreciprocated love, for which Signora Mercedes has been responsible this year. When she promised to marry Rodriguez two earlier suitors committed suicide.
