DEATH OF MR. H. J. BATHGATE

Mr. Herbert James Bathgate, Superintendent of the Borstal Institute, was found dead in bed this morning. He was a bachelor, aged 63. s He was formerly in the employ of the Education Department, and did valuable work aa supervisor at Burnham Industrial School. After Burnham was closed he was transferred to Wellington in the Education Department, and in April, 1920, to Invercargill to take charge of the Borstal Institute. His work hero is highly spoken of. He took a great interest in hiß charge, and always was striving to improve their social and physical conditions.
