SEAMEN AND FIREMEN
MOVE TO FORM NEW UNION.
As a sequel to the recent seamen's trouble, a movement is on foot amongst some of the non-unionists whose services were retained by the shipping companies at the termination of the dispute, to form a new union under the Arbitration Act. The project first took definite shape some weeks ago, and it is understood that objection has been lodged to the registration of the new organisation on the ground that the- present union is registered and working under the Arbitration Act, and is a union to which firemen and seamen can conveniently belong.
