OAMARU BY-ELECTION
CAMPAIGN OPENS TO-MOIEOW
EVENING.

OAMARU, 18th April The roll for the Oamara by-election closed on. Saturday, over 1000 new enrolments having been made. Of these quite 600 are new names of electors coming of ago and new arrivals in the district.
The contest will lie confined to the two candidates, the Hon. E. P. Lee (Reform), and Mr. J. A. MacPherson (Liberal-La-bour). Neither candidate has spoken yet, but the campaign will open in real earnest on. Tuesday night, the Prime Minister being announced to speak at Pajmerston.
CHBJSTCHURCH, This Day. The Prime Minister (Hon. W..F. Massey) confirms the statement that he will open Mr. Lee's campaign with a speech at Palmerston South to-morrow night. He left Chrigtchwch to-day for Oamaru.
