WELLINGTON CLUB

CHAMPIONSHIPS CONCLUDED.

The Wellington Club closed its season officially on Saturday.

The combined championships were played off, and J^elody and Mrs. Melody proved successful. They defeated Wright and Mrs. Witcombe, 6-3, 6-2, in the semifinal, and then beat lorns and Mrs. Parkinson (who entered the final by default), 6-3, 6-4.

It was intended to play the two remaining championship events of the club to finality; but owing to the length of time occupied by a match in the semifinal of the ladies' singles these were not completed. -Mrs. Witcombe beat Mrs. Cornelius, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, in a close game, both ladies proving very steady off the ground. Mrs. Witcombe now meets Mrs. Melody in the final.
