A Sydney chemist was heavjjy fincH last week for having sold cocaine retail, without the word "poison" bain<j printed' conspicuously on the wrapper, together with the name of the article, and' tha name and the address of the seller. The case served to make publicly; known the facts that there is a certain amount of traffic in narcotics in Sydney and that the State Government has. lagged- woefully behind iii" the matter of dealing with the sa]g of drugs and poisons; ..During the hearing of the case it-was pointed out by the registrar of the Pharmacy Board . that the Versailles Conference cpnsidered_ the selling of potent: drugs such a serious matter that ib was made obligatory for all the signatories to the treaty, including-;the.Commonwealth, to control the- sale and use of- narcotics.. Unfortunately, he added, the New'Sojuiii Wales-Cabinet had not clone this. .
