Professor Eipman, Chief Inspector to London University, addressing the English Association, said that many contractions were better than originals. For example,' "hanky" was better than ''handkerchief," "pram" was more sensible than "perambulator," and ''movies" preferable to "cinematograph." "v He advocated an Imperial-American conference to establish the best form of English' speech.
Professor fy'pman is one of the best linguists in England. He Imb published many translations from the French, German, and Italian, and recently a book on "Good Speech."
