PAYMENT OF WAR GRATUITY.

Under previous legislation no authonty existed for the payment o? wai gratuity, to British ladies who served in the various New Zealand Hoipstals in the.United Kingdom during the war, bu( under section 15 of the Finance Act, 1922, the authority conferred on the Minister of Defence by section 7 of the Expeditionary Forces Amendment "Act, 5 1918, to pay a bonus to members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force after service therein beyond the seas, has been extended to* authorise the payment of such bonus, at the British rate, to or on account of any-persons who,' though domiciled out of New Zealand, have served for not less than six months as members of the Voluntary Aid Detachment, or as general service workers in New Zealand Hospitals and were paid for such service by the New Zealand Government. Applications from those entitled to this bonus who are now domiciled in New Zealand should be forwarded to the Ofncer-m-Oharge, New Zealand Expeditionry Force War' Accounts and Records, Buckle street, Welington. The High Commissioner, London, will- deal with applications from thosa resident i' the United Kingdom.
