MR. MITCHELL AT NGAIO.

Mr. G. Mitchell addressed a meeting at Ngaio. last night, in furtherance of his Mayoral election campaign. Mr. E. Hicks presided.

Mr. Mitchell dealt with the matter of electric power, and said there was no doubt that the city, would' be ready to take the power from Mangahao, when such was available. He advised the carrying of the water and drainage loan proposals in the Onslow district. Thes» were, the first essentials for the health and well being of the people. Many people looked on the position of Mayor as a reward for services rendered—a sort of gift by the city to the individual. This he thought was a wrong view. Tho Mayor should be selected for his ability to give service to the' city, not what th« city could give him.

Mr. Hicks moved a voto of thanks and confidence, which was carried with applause.

A committee was set up to further Mr. Mitchell's candidature.
