THE ABANDONED MATCH.

The New Zealand Cricket Council asked the ■ ■ Otago Association to express an opinion concerning the council's action in allowing the Otago-Wellington match for the Plunket Shield to tie abandoned, and the association decided to reply that it considered the council acted wisely ml the circumstances, hut was- of opinion that the rules governing the Plunket Shield competitions should be revisedl, so that provision be made for such contingencies as arose. In reply to the council, the association expressed the opinion that the eight-ball over is a decided improvement, and worked most satisfactorily-
