THE PEOPOSAL CARRIED,

The ratepayers of the Hutt Valley electric power district yesterday by a largo majority endorsed at the poll the proposal for a loan of £200,000 for the reticulation of the district with electricpower and light/ The Act requires that to authorise the raising of the loan there must be a three-fifths majority ,\ whereas the voting resulted in the scheme being approved by a vote of more than ten to one. The poll was not as heavy as was expected, * for out of over 5000 ratepayers only 1574 took the trouble to record their votes. Mr. H. E. Lodge acted as returning officer.
