BOWLING
DOMINION COUNCIL MEETING
REMITS ADOPTED,
A meeting of the Council of the Dominion Bowling Association and delegates of centres was held at Auckland during the recent tournament.
The following remits were considered and adopted: — ' 'That it be a recommendation to the council that it take steps to alter rule 3, sub-clause (c), by deleting all words after 'vice versa,' and inserting in place thereof 'when the Dominion tournament iB in the South Island a subsidiary tournament may be held in the North Island in a centre or combined centres to be approved by the council, and vice versa.' " "That- this meeting of delegates congratulates the Auckland executive on the action taken in enforcing, the rule re one foot on the mat, and trusts that other centres controlling tournaments will act in a similar manner, and that centres be 'circularised accordingly."
At a meeting of the Council of the Dominion Association, held the next evening, the North Otago centre applied for permission to hold its usual Easter tournament, which. was granted.
A request was received from the East Coast bowling centre ,for a ruling on the question of a bowler deliberately playing his bowl 'piebald."—lt was decided to reply that such an action was not in the best interests of bowling, but that there was" no rule to govern the point raised. The Christchurch' centre was granted permission to hold a tournament at Easter. .;. . -
Objection was raised by South Canterbury to the Chriatchurcn centre being allowed to hol3 two .tournaments in the one year, as it was detrimental to the success of the'Timaru tournament. The council held that the' interest of the majority of the bowlers was best studied by granting permission to. hold tournaments wherever practicable. On the suggestion of the secretary of the Wellington centre, it was decided to amend the itinerary of the New South Wales bowlers to include a trip to the 'West Coast of the South Island. It was decided to recommend to the centres in which the Dominion tournament is held to make the date of closing of entries as late as possible.
Results of play in the tricolour competition are as follow:— : Island Bay and Kelburn.—(At Island Bay): Stevens (Kelburn), 22, Lewis (Island Bay), 15; Meadowcroft (Kelburn) 10, Hale.(lsland Bay), 22; Doherty (Kelburn) 22, Mason (Island Bay) 20; Angus (Kelburn), 18, Bland (Island Bay), 21.
