EINSTEIN IN COLOMBO
Professor ' Einstein of relativity fame, passed through Colombo on the Ist November en route to Japan. The profe»sor. who is accompanied by Mrs. Einstein, is to deliver lectures on the relativity at the Imperial University ot Tokk> ami other places. Interviewed by a '.'Times of Ceylon' reporter on board aa to the results of the recent eclipse, the professor said he was unable to state anything definite regarding the results of ttu) tests in Christmas, Island. The expedition had proved abortive owing to weather conditions, but he was hopeful that a favourable result had been obtained by tbe Australian party where weather conditions favoured astronomers.- Before leaving Germany, Professor Einstein intended to deliver a lecture on relativity the occasion of the centenary celebrations of,the Society of German Philosophers, but cancelled it for the visit to Japan, As the decision' was reached shortly after the murder of ft. Bathenau, it caused considerable stir, and it wes freely sir.feed that Einstein's death had been decided on by the murdor organisation. As a result of arrests and disclosures, efforts were being made to induce Einstein to return to Germany in time for the centenary celebration, but he stated that after leaving Japan he was visitinpc China : and tbe Dutch Indies, eventually returning to Germany by way of, Colombo.
