COMPETITORS AT REGATTA 1.

.. AH the- contestants for the Sanders Cup competed in two races at the Auckland Anniversary regatta. ' For the Ross Clip race, sailed in the morning, the wind'was light and fluky-" from'"-the north. Murihiku and Linnet had a good go on the reach to the first mark, which the former rounded in 71 seconds ahead, Nyna having replaced Linnet. On the broad lead to the next mark Murihiku. improved her position, rounding tha mark 75 seconds ahead of Linnet, now in second place. Winifred came 70 seconds later. Murihiku forged ahead on the close haul to the top mark, Linnet being second and Rona fourth. Allstruck a light patch. Rounding the mark Rona was second, three minutes behind, and Linnet was third 65 seconds astern. On the flat run down the harbour Murihiku held her own, but striking a soft patch was almost overhauled by Rona. Murihiku finished .first, Rona was second, 6min 3sec behind, and Linnet was fourth, • 2min< lSsec later. ■ Eynin, Msec astern, was sixth, and Desert Gold, leec after, was seventh. Winifred withdrew. In the championship race th^''wind was steady from the west. Very little separated the .boats ■on the run to th& first mark, but when they hauled on he wind, Linnet assumed the lead, with Murihiku second, Winifred fourth,, and Rona sixth. The next mark saw Linnet, Rona,. and' Nyria fighting it out for tEe lead. _ Off Kings-Wharf Rona weathered Linnet and Nyria, but before the next mark was reached Nyria replaced Rona. On the run..'back again Linnet passed Nyria, and before reaching the Resolution buoy Linnet assumed the lead. From this out a very close race took place between Rona, Murihiku, and Linnet. Murihiku and Rona were both put about by a ferry steamer, but Linnst earned on and beat Rona by 3sec, winning the race. Murihiku was third, 64see behind Linnet. Winfred was eighth and Eynin last. Rona fouled the Resolution.
