The quarterly meeting; of members of' the Methodist "Central Mission was held last week. Very encouraging reports were received from, the various departments; congregations had considerably increased, and the membership of the school stood at 160. The finances of the mission .also showed improvement. This was due in. no small measure to the splendid work of the Ladies' Gufld, which contributed £140 11s 9d. The total receipts of the mission for the year were £883 12s Bd. During the year collections were taken up on behalf of the Home Mission Fund, and also the Masterton Orphanage. The retiring circuit steward!, Messrs. J. JR. Burley and W. Noot, were heartily thanked and re-appointed for the ensuing year. Messrs. H. Baker and J. R. Burley were' elected delegates to the forthcoming conference, to be held at Dunedin in February. The proposal to unite with Taranaki street was discussed, arid it was decided to await further developments before coming to any definite conclusion. Mr. A. P. Dorrian was unanimously, elected a local preacher on trial, the superintendent minister'having reported satisfactorily regarding his preparation.
