ROAD METAL ON RAILS
SERIOUS ACCIDENT, NARROWLY
AVERTED.
(BI TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day.
A serious accident to the HelensvilleAuckland train was averted on Saturday evening by the promptness of the ongine-driver in pulling up when the forepart of the engine went off the rails owing to an accumulation of road metal, presumably piled up' by boys. Had the engine run on to the cattle-stops, just ahead, a smash must have been almost inevitable.'
