"SWEET ARE THE USES"
MINISTER PRAISES DEFLATION.

LONDON, 26th January. Addressing the Huddersfield Chamber of Commerce, Sir William Joynson Hicks said that he disagreed with i\lr., M'Kenna's views regarding deflation.' He said_ that coincidently with the deflation during the last year we had seen a. distinct improvement of trade compared with the previous year,- and the cost of the appreciation of the nound sterling had, been that very deflation, that paying off. debts by taxation which had been burdensome, but of inestimable -value in getting the country's finance, into a stable position.
