CHRISTCHUKCH, This Day. 1 The rainfall recorded in Christchurch, between noon yesterday and 5 a.m. today, amounted to 3.197 inches —a record. Many low-lying places' are flooded, weather to-day is very -warm, and the sky is clearing. The rainfall for January so far is 5.35 inches, a 6 compared with. 1.882 inches for the corresponding period of last year. Damage to crops will not be serious if harvesting is not further delayed.
