The touring English cricket team commenced a match here to-day, in fine weather, and on a fast wicket) against the Minor Associations. Titchmarsh, Tlydesley, and Freeman stood out of the visiting team. The home side batted first, but made a mediocre showing against the accurate length bowling, and were all out for 129. Lambert was the only batsman to score with confidence. The Englishmen have lost one wicket for 96. Gibsori and Calthorpe battad attractively, although the latter was twice dropped in the slips. The match will be concluded tomorrow. Following are the scores:—
