A NEW DISPUTE
WHEAT-LUMPING RATES.
/ SYDNEY, 6th December. . A conference of the Australian Workers' Union and wheat shipping firms to adjust the lumping rates for the season proved abortive, the men firmly demanding the rates the last two years, and the firms desiring a reduction hi wages" of 20s weekly. The secretary of the Australian Workers' Union stated that it was practically certain that wheat would be declared black if the threat were carried out. This would have far-reach-ing effects, ultimately involving the watersiderß and seamen.
