■PETONE CLUB'S REPORT.

The annual report of the Petone Bifle Club for the season 1921-1922 states' that the membership is now 65: The • championship of the club Was .won for the second year in succession by Eflmn. R. H. NioholL In this contest the members were divided into three diviiions, and five series' were fired in' each division,' the prizes baing well divided among the members. Deputy President Weir won the Segregate trophy for the "B" division and Rflmn. OH. Mitchell the "C".division aggregate. The' spoon' competitions have proved very popular and it ii hoped that these weekly competitions' will be continued. The' club ,was represented at 'ithil iNorth Island > Championship Rifl« Heating held at Wanganui. After a keen contest Riflemen D. J. Guiney and R. H. Nicholl, both members of, the club, tied for the championship, and in the shoot-off 'Rflran. Guiney won. The members also were very successful individually and, in the 'teams' match. At the Wellington Rifle Meeting, the olub was well represented, and Rflmn. D. J. Guiney > wag successful in winning the -championship, with other .members occupying prominent positions in the prize lists. The olub ww , well .represented at the Dominion meeting at Papawai, and won a fair amount of success. Riflemen D. J. Guiney and R. C. Barkle won places in the fifty, and other' members were well up. In tne annual teams' 'matches for the Wellington Rifle Clubs' Union Shields, the club'occupied second position, losing the senior shield by only two s points. A National Rifle Association of New Zealand has been formed to take the place of the Dominion Rifle Association. Members of the club are urged to become affiliated members of the association. Commencing this last year the free grant of ammunition by we Defence Department was discontinued, and to raise revenue it was necessary to'increase the annual subscription. This has enabled the finances to' be kept on the right side. The bal-ance-sheet shows, that the , olub is in a satisfactory position financially.
