An important and widespread fight appears to be in progress; on the .Cork-road, which i» 6o barricaded* and mined that* the Local Government Board has appealed to all the clergy and prominent residents to assist by labour and influence in removing the obstacles, so as to help the Free State troops to advance. The soaps of information allowed to filter through tie rigid censorship suggest that tie Free State forces are not meetingl with uniform success. One statement is that the road is so hazardous and perilous that no army could ever achieve final victory in 'such, circumstances, without meeting with some reverses. Another statement is that the rebel positions are being bombarded with machine-guns, and that the utmost heroism is displayed by the troops and civilians. The latter are assisting to bring in the 'dead and wounded under most intense rifle and machine-gun fire. Tho rebels are not willing to adopt tih© offensive. ,
