THE CHILDREN'S EFFORT

FRIDAY'S STREET DAY. Every effort on behalf of the children makes a strong appeal to the generosity of the public, and judging by the enthusiasm shown in connection with the Street Day to secure funds for the play area to be established in front of the Hospital, Friday's effort should be most successful. A fine spirit has been shown by the ohildren of the Young Citizens' League at Auckland in helping the'movement, and they are forwarding flowers, etc., for sale in connection with the Street Day. A procession of school children will leave Veitch and Allan's corner at 12.15 for Poet Office-square, where a pubEc community "sing" will bo held at 12.3 Q. Another "sing" will tako place at the King's Theatre at the same time. , The Institute Braes Band will render a programme of musio in the street. There will be sixteen street stalls,' where 'flowers, produce, etc., may be purchased. A neat badge, with the inscription "Children's Play Area," will be on sale on Friday at Is each.
