WELLINGTON SOUTH

The quarterly meeting of the Wellington South Methodist Circuit was held on Monday night at the Island Bay Church. The Rev. E. Drake, circuit superintend dent, presided, and the Rev. J. G. Chapman and a large number of officials were present. , The senior membership was reported to be 327 and juniors 109. The Sunday schools' staff of teachers and scholars were declared to be very satisfactory, also the Christian Endeavourers and Young People's League. The Chairman stated that the Rev. T. G. Brooke, general secretary of the Home. Mission Fund, would be the delegate, and conduct services in Wellington the third Sunday in August. "Mr. Drake also reported that the president of the conference, Rev. 0. H. Laws, 8.A., would visit Wellington on 24th September. It was resolved that Messrs. Goodhall and Gilling accompany Messrs. S. T. Martin and Hoare when the latter are preaching, with a view to their-ultimate acceptance as local preachers. The Chairman reported very highly on the trial sermon of Mr. A. H. de C. Brookes, and this statement was also supported by other members. The Rev. E. Drake, on the unanimous vote of the meeting, agreed to stay in the circuit another year, subject to ratification by the next conference. i - The . circuit stewards presented the balance-sheet for the quarter. .
