MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. EV K. Hunt, S.M., presided at todays sitting of the Magistrate's Court. One first-offending inebriate was leniently, dealt with.
Joseph Dossenback had three previous convictions for drunkenness, against him. H. was fined £1, in default three days in gaol. Genge Harley, a second offender, was fined 10s or 48 hours in gaol. ..4 young man named Andrew Ernest Neilson, who was arrested yesterday on two charges of forgery, was remanded to appear on 12th July. ; David Yokavitoh, -alleged to be the father of an unborn child, was remanded to appear at Wanganui on Thursday.
.' On a charge of using obscene language, Jeannie Lynn was fined £3 and costs. George Stacey was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment foi assaulting Albert Norman Sutherland. The police story was to the effect that Stacey asked the complainant for n shilling,, and on meeting with » refusal, h« followed Sutherland up and struck him. Mr. C. A. L. Treadwell, who represented the accused, described tho affair as a quarrel between seamen, and asked for leniency.
