Mitchell; M.E., president of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association, received the following communication _ from the Town Clerk: —• ■"Dear Sir, —Referring to your interview with the Reserves Committee yesterday and to your letter : addressed to his Worship the. Mayor with regard to the allocation by the Poppy Day Fund .Committee of-money for expenditure in the city for the'relief of unemployed.returned soldiers, I, am directed to inform you that the offer contained in your letter has been accepted on the understanding that the council has full control of the men to be employed and full power to determine the nature of the work on which the money is to be expended. In order- that arrangements may be made/for the; men to commence work at tha earliest possible opportunity, lifshair be'"gladi if-, you": will. be- .good enough to forward a list of the returned unemployed soldiers capable of employment on city reserves. It is proposed to commence operations on' the Prince of Wales Park, reserving an amount for expenditure in levelling the Lyall Bay sand hills,; when the necessary tracks and scoops have been acquired." A list of 65 names of married men and two single men with dependants was supplied to-day, and a further list will be forwarded. It is proposed to take the men through the Repatriation Department, and all Teturned soldiers out of ■work and not registered are advised to apply there at once. .
