sidelights' on election.
(UNITED PRESS ASfnC/A^IdN.—COPIRiG"T.) (Received June 19, 11.30 a.m.)
HOBABT, This Day. The aggregate voting in the Tasmanian elections was: Anti-Labour, 42,000; proLabour, 25,854. Mr. Jensen, Minister of the Navy, was elected, and has replaced Mr. Bass (Nationalist), but it is not known which party he will support. It is thought that the contest is only a " try-on " for another ' attempt for Federal honours. Sir W. H. Lee, the Premier, stated that the position is unsatisfactory. ' The Nationalists' strength would have been much greater only for the large number of preferences t exhausted during the distribution. It would be exceedingly difficult to maintain a, stable Government, but he is of opinion that the National Government will carry on.
