PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION
FORMED.
A Ngaio iProgressive Association -was formed a.t a well-attended public meeting hel'd in the Methodist Church, Ngaio, last evening. Mr. Clark presided.
After adopting a constitution, the following officers were elected :—President, Mr. B. Lynneb-erg; vice-president, Mr. G. M'Arthur; seoretary, Mr: W. S. Radeliffe; treasurer, Mr. J. Pettit; committee, Messrs. M'Leod. E. J. Hampton, E. E. Hicks, C. Glenday, and T. Norriss. Mr. W. E. Mcholls was appointed auditor. '
It was unanimously resolved: "That this meeting of Ngaio .residents supports the school committee in its efforts to secure a playing area, that will meet the future needs of the district, and protests against the lack of foresight in not providing adequate playing space for the Ngaio School, and strongly urges that the Education Board again press the Government to acquire while the chance exists."
Mr. E. Hicks pointed out the urgent need for a public telephone for Ngaio, and suggested that it be placed' at the junction of the station and main road. It was also urged that efforts should be made to have more footpaths provided that Abbott-road should be improved, and that all waste spaces should be planted and beautified. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Clark for presiding, and regret was expressed at his being toe- busy to accept office.
