A GREAT FIRE
IN LONG ISLAND TOWN

NEW YORK, 16th June,
Wind whipped up a fire at the seaside resort of Averne, Long, Island, near the city, and burned four hundred buildings, including many hotels. Sixty persons were injured, and a great number of people were left temporarily homeless. The fire razed the buildings on half a square mile, and did damage to the extent of four million dollars.
