RIGHTS OF SHIPMASTERS.

SYDNEY, 15th June.
The general secretary-of the Merchant Service Guild has made representations to the 'Government on behalf of the masters of the colliers Marjorio and Galava, who wers arrested on criminul charges of putting to sea with hatches off, and were found aiot guilty. He urged that the State should reimburse the masters to the extent of the bill of costs, as the master of a vessel going to sea without hatches in position was entirely one for the. discretion of the ship's master.
