After fifteen years' continuous service with the Hospital Board, Dr. G. W. Harty is retiring from the active position of ophthalmic surgeon on /the honorary, staff of the Hospital. The ear, eye, nose, and throat clinic, the largest clinic at the Hospital, was developed under his supervision, arid its success has been due to his constant attention to duties and to his undoubted ability as an organiser. Dr. Harty gratuitously attended to the nursing, administrative, and other staffs at the Hospital, and all feel a. deep sense of gratitude to him. His retirement was referred to at n meeting of tlio Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday, and members of the board were unanimous in expressing their thanks to Dr. Harty for loyal service extended over a, period of so many years,. As a compliment, lie is to be asked to accept the position of consulting ophthalmic surgeon on the honorary staff. Messrs. 35.
