CYCLONIC STORM
HOUSES DEMOLISHED
DAMAGE DONE IN AUCKLAND , DISTRICT.
The postmaster at Warkworth (43 miles north-east of Auckland) telegraphs to the Chief Postmaster at Wellington as follows:— "A cyclonic storm struck this district at 6 o'clock last ' evening. Osborne's house at Wayby (10 miles from Warkworth) was demolished; Martin's house, Warkworth, was demolished and some of the inmates severely injured. Wilson's house at Springlands was struck by lightning. Considerable damage was done to orchards, fences, etc. Numerous telephone and telegraph wires are down."
