COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS
CONFERENCE AT CHRISTCHURCH.
(IT lIUMAPH.—PItISS ASSOCIATION.)
CHRISTCHURCH, 7th March.
The ninth annual conference of the Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association of New Zealand was opened to-day. The Mayor (Dr. H. T. J. Thacker, M.P.), welcoming the delegates, said the commercial travellers of New Zealand had won the goodwill of all the people during the war. They had helped every good cause, and in Christchurch their services were particularly appreciated. He would like^to see ihe commercial travellers doing something to secure better travelling accommodation for the general public. More comfort on the railways was one vital necessity, and he hoped something would be done to bring about an improvement.
ilepojts presented showed that affiliated associations were in a flourishing condition. Mr. H. M. Wauchop, the president, said it was gratifying to hear from the' reports of affiliated associations that their work for charity throughout New Zealand had been well maintained, and he hoped that during the next year similar progress would be made. He thought there was nothing finer 'than for their association to do something for public institutions.
It was decided that no commissions be granted to provincial associations in connection with the insurance fund for twelve months.
