WELLINGTON COLLEGE OLD BOYS.
The annual general meeting of the Wellington College Old Boys' Club was held in Messrs. J. H. Bethune and Co's auction room, Brandon-street, last evening, Mr. J. P.- Firth presiding. The balance-sheet showed that! the financial position- of the club had been considerably strengthened during the season. /
. In moving th"e adoption of the report, the chairman emphasised the need for combination and keenness among the ■players in order to ensuis the desired efficiency. The club had done exceedingly- well last year, and th'e success, he said, was ivndoubtedty due to thesplon-, did spirit of comradeship which prevailed throughout all the grades. He wished the olub every success during the coming season.
It was decided after some discussion that, the club shotfld put senior, junior, and third-class teams in the field, the entry of other grades being left to the discretion of the management committee. The question of the establishment of a gymnasium fund was discussed, and it was resolved that a fund be formed for this purpose, the amount paid in annually to be' determined by the management committee and trustees.
The limiting of the fourth grade players to nineteen years of age and under ■was decided upon, and the delegates were instructed to support the increased insurance rates as recommended bv the W.E.F.U.
It was suggested that trainers and coaclies should be provided for each team, and that old boys should be approached in regard to rendering some assistance .in this direction. This scheme had been adopted by one or two suburban teams, and the result had been an all-round ira.provement in the play, especially among the juniors.
