TE AWAMUTU "EXPLOSION"
(IT TULiaHAM.—PMH AH0C1AII01I.)
TE AWA'MUTU, 7th March,
The police report and official inquiry held to-day concerning last night's train explosion leads to the theory that the impact with an obstruction on the rail, which probably fell from tho engine itself, caused tho steam valves to relax, thus giving the impression that an explosion had taken place. The rail bears an impression for several inches, as though a hard substance had been dragged on it.
