NEXT WELLINGTON SALES

Buyers are busy in the Wellington stores to-day valuing for the sales to be held here on Friday next. A total catalogue of 20;000 bales will then be offered ; and, from what can be gathered from those long in the'trade it does not at all follow that a serious fall in values will take place when the wool comes under the hammer. The buyers' view, backed by experience, is that New Zealand . values have recently been above those of London, and that a fall here, if ■it takes place on Friday, would be but a •reflection.of file market. Up to a certain point this view was held by a wellknown broker, giving it as his own view. "London of late," he said, "has its ups and downs, which are not seen in the ea-les here. It does not follow that because ,the market is weaker in Cole-man-street to-day that it will be so at the Wellington sales on Friday. We 'may not really be affected so much as the London cables would suggest. A slight fall there may be; but the bulk of the wool to be offered on Friday is medium to coarse crossbreds, which .are not so much affected by the fall at the current London sales, and wo may not have any fall to record."
