Just prior to:the opening of.the last Imperial Conference, ■Mr. Mousley, published his book, 'v"Empire— View of the Empire Tangle," and'his last book, "The Secrets of a Kuttite," n. collection of documents written and hidden during his : captivity in Turkey, has received world-wide notice. .' He was New Zealand official .secretary.'to the/British"delegates at the Washington- Conference. : .Spealcing of; the Washington Confer,'ence, Mr.. Mousley said, he believed its chief value would ultimately be recognised to be tlie enormoDs influence it had on opinion an the direction of recognising the necessity "for,- and the i difficulties of, international co-op-eration. At -Paris -MiT;' Wilson stepped on to a stage which was set beforehand by Europe. Washington, on the other hand, 'was v a.-.. purely American - concep-' ■ tion, the stage/was set by America, and 'on that account:'the Conference> had a great ■ influence, on American thought; and brought home to Americans the difficulties of .internationtil agreements.;' He believed that in the fiiture'this Confer:: ence would be, recogjiised as \ one ''of•'>the; most wpnd-erful of international confer-.
