COMPETITION FOR'BOYS OF THE^ EMPIRE. ' ,' ' ■ ~s (MOM DDR OWN CORRBSrONMNT.) ■ ' ' ■ LONDON, 10th January. "Conditions regulating the 1922 miniature rifle shooting competitions for boys of the Empire have been published. The senior competition ia for boys between 14' and 18, and the junior for- boys from 11 to 15. The match in each ftise may be fired on any day (except Sundays) between Ist February and 30th June, 1922 (inclusive), on any range (open or covered) in any part of the British Empire, and is open to any number of teams from the samo unit. (Teams may be chosen from Officers' Training Corps, Cadet Corps, sehopls (not having an O.T. or Cadet Corps), Boy Scouts, Church Lads' Brigade, and any other boy organisation with objects similar to the foregoing and subjoct to the approval of 'the N.R.A. .;'
The'minimum strength of any team will be eight, and the distance is 20 yards. The number of shots to be fired by each competitor is twenty, at a "200 yards Bieley 1921" (tin hat) target, reduced for 20 yards, with any single-loading rifle taking ammunition not larger than .230. The entrance fee is Is from each team.
Prizes for each match will be donated as follow:—First prize, the Challenge Shield, bronze replica, silver medals, and £15; second prize, bronze medals and £10; third prize, bronze medals and £5; sixteen prizes of £3; eleven prizes of £2; and additional prizes will bo 'added for every ten teams (above 100)' sending ii> completed register cards and targets. In connection with the 1921 competitions the following message" was contained in a letter from the King's, Private Secretary: "The King notes with satisfaction . the pood results obtained by those schools who head the list in their respective countries for general efficiency, and hopes that the less successful onos will continue to dp their utmost to reach this enviable potition."
