UNHAPPY MARRIAGES
DIVORCES SOUGHT.
Hearing of the petition of Arthur Hume, tramway motorman, for a divorce from Eileen Florence Hume on the ground of habitual drunkenness was concluded at the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Hosking. Mr.'C. A. L. Treadwell appeared for the petitioner and Mr. P. W. Jackson for the' respondent.
His Honour traversed the evidence, and put two questions to the jury:— (1) Has the wife during the four "years prior to sth December, 1921, been an habitual drunkard? (2) Has she habitually neglected her domestic duties and rendered herself unfit to discharge them?"
The jury returned an answer of "no" to each of the questions, and the petition was thereupon dismissed, with'costs on the lowest scale. Mr. '■ Treadwell was given until 11th March to lodge an application for a new trial.
