LONDON, 10th January. • Recent arrivals'in England, by the Tainui included Mr. ; S. Turner, F.R.G.S., and his daughter, Miss li'l. Turner. Mr. Turner is now devoting- his time to business interests, and to. making' arrangements to settle his daughter a» a student at the Royal College of Music, she being the holder of the New Zealand) 1921 Exhibition. The day after landing, Mr. Turner had a very favourable interview with Sir Francis Younghusband, president of the Royal Geographical Society, and also with the Alpino Ohib, which has extended'to, him a' very cordial welcome. As all New Zealand; knows, it is Mr. Turner's, ambition to have the opportunity of trying his luck in the conquest of Mount Everest.. He looks, upon the_ accomplishment of this feat from a national aspect, holding the view that the prestige of the British, Empire is involved. , ■■ ,■■-..'

Mr. E. P. Russell ■(Wellington) arrived in England last week by the Tainui, partly on 'business nnd partly to see his relatives after an absence of fifteen years.; During his three months' stay he will trave] generally in England and Scotland, but his headquarters are with his mother in London.

Dr. Noel Whitton, M.C., . who has. lately been house surgeon at the Central London Ear and Throat Hospital, has now been appointed clinical assistant to the ear and throat department. Royal! Infirmary, Edinburgh. Mr. F.M. B. Fisher is once more at Cannes, playing in the lawn tennis tournaments. .
