Junior A.

Poneke secured a three-point win over Wellington. The latter made 68 in their first innings, and Poneke had eight wickets down for 229 when stumps were drawn on the first day. Continuing their innings on Saturday, they carried their total to 297 (Cooper 70 not out, M'Donald 27). Wellington were dis» posed of in iheir second innings for 51 (Jackson 25 and Aitken 10). Bowling for Poneke, J. Tilyard took three wickets for no runs, H. Tilyard two for 4, Jennings two for 19, and E. M'Cardell one for 26. Poneke won by an innings and 178 runs.

Kilbirnie defeated V.M.C.A. by an innings and 156 runs. Batting first, V.M.C.A. made 93 (Gray 33, Holdsworth 24). Kilbirnie replied with' 350 (Henderson 156, Walker 103, Wilson 28, Bramley 17). In their second innings, V.M.C.A. compiled 101 (Nightingale 24, Wilson not out 18, Greig 17, Holdsworth 16).

Eastbourne, requiring 100 runs to win in the game against University at Day's Bay, succeeded in securing the necessary runs for a three-point win with the loss of one wicket, Nash 54 and Roberts 36 being the not out men. Kilbirnie secured a two-point victory over Northland. Kilbirnie made 77 and 112 for three wickets (declared), while NortMand replied with 72. Batting for Kilbirnie,' Christopherson 22 and 60 not, out, Morris 12 and 15 not out, Izett 6 and 26. Bowling: H. Algar five for 25, B. Morris three for 34. Karori defeated Central Mission, the leading team in this grade, by 17 runs on the first innings. Karori, batting first, made 191 (R. Wilkinson 52, W. Mansfield 34, R. Smith 30, J. Slater 26, L. Hodges 20). Central Mission replied with 173 (Baker 55, Tidman 40, Brooks 38 t , Chamberlain 13). Bowling: For Karori, R. Sutton took four wickets for 61, H. Randell three for 24; for Central Mission, Sell took five for 46, Tidman three for 65.

FOURTH.

Thorndon obtained a three-point win against Petone. Petone, batting first, made 79 runs (Scorringe 37, Thompson 14). Thorndon replied with 98 (A. Rogers 38, Hendry 25, Taylor 12). In their second innings, Petone made 75 (Edwards 40), thus leaving Thorndon 55 runs to make in scarcely 20 minutes. In an exciting finish. Thorndon secured the necessary runs for the loss of five wickets (Martin 44 not out, Hendry 13, Davis 11).

Marist Old Boys secured a three-point win from Hutt after an exciting game. Marist batted first, and, made 68' (Johnson 16). Hutt then went to the crease and compiled 68 also (Gwilliam 15). As time was drawing near, Mariat played vigorously for a win, and in their second venture knocked up 105 for five wickets in thirty minutes (Barton 47. not out, Johnson 23), and then dismissed Hutt for 15 runs, thus winning1 by 90 runs,'with ten minutes to spare. For Hutt. Upton and Morgan were the most successful bowlers, with averages of four wickets for 22 and four for 27 respectively. For Marist, Goff finished up ,with the fine average of five wickets for' no runs, Johnson four for 21 and five for 6, Tancred three for 7, and Andrews two for 25.

Government Printing Office beat V.M.C.A. C by one wicket and 5 runs. Government Printing Office made 52 and 67 for nine wickets (G. Spence 24, M'Carthy . 14, Lord' 10, Lowe 22). V.M.C.A. Q, 58 and 56 (Thompson 22, Long 12, Taylor, 10, At'Gavin 10). Bowling for Government Printing Office, Barker took eleven wickets for 41 runs, G. Spence six for 44, Lord two for 5, J. Spence one for 8 ; for V.M.C.A.. Andrews took eight wickets for 26, Taylor six for 56, Thompson three for 21, Long three for 3.
