When the game was resumed, Hutt added 12 runs, and the innings closed with 116 runs, leaving Midland with a lead of 92. Two wickets had fallen for 38, when Eggleston partnered Nunn, whose score was then 15, and both batsmen displayed excellent cricket, taking no risks, and punishing severely anything loose. The score was carried to 154 before a separation took place, Eggleston being caught by Baker. He retired; after having compiled a well-played 66, including two b's and ten 4's. Four runs later Nunn was bowled by Patrick, and he retired with 60 runs to his credit.
