PETONE SITTING
The monthly sitting of the Petone Magistrate's Court was held to-day before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Cecil Godfrey Pilcher pleaded guilty to assaulting his employer,. John Lowry. The evidence of"Dr. Harding (showed that Lowry hid recMved two severe blows on his face. ■ Lo-.vry stated that' he had spoken to Pilcher about the quality of his work, and accused had then struck him. Mr. G. Kindlay, on behalf of accused, pleaded sudden provocation, and asked for leniency. Accused was fined £10 and 21s costs, or in" default one month's imprisonment, the Magistrate stating that the sooner men like the acI cused learnt.to obey orders the better. John Rawnsley, for boarding a train while it was in motion, was fined 10a and 7s costs. Exceeding the speed limit in a motorcar cost William Shaw 20s and 7s costs. No order was made in the case of Mary Rule; v: W. H. Rule, a claim for £52, arrears in maintenance. • .CIVIL BUSINESS. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the.,following undefended civil cases: Ada Cochrane v. V. P. J. Fairfax, £2 12s 6d, and 33s costs; J. Moore v. A. Birkett, £23, lps, and 70s costs. .In the following tenement cases, tenants were ordered to give up possession within one month: Albert Lindwall v. A. Mexted, A. R. Cox v. J. Milne, E. M. Griffiths v. W. Southee. A. Bennett was ordered to give E. S. Trevethick possession within three weeks. No order, wan made in the case of Rebecca Love v. T. Locke, a case where plaintiff asked for possession of a, tenement on account of waste by the tenant,
