The Carterton police on Saturday discovered a motor-car under some trees at the junction of Hughes-road with the Masterton main road, at Twatohi. It was subsequently ascertained that the car belonged to the representative of the Dunlop Rubber Company, Wellington, who bad reported the loss to the Wellington detective office. When the police took possession of the car, the petrol tank was quite empty.

The Greytown Amateur Swimming Club has arranged to hold its annual carnival on Saturday next. The railway bridge near the Dalefield station was discovered to' be' on fire yesterday morning, when the express passed over. With the aid of a fire extinguisher the flames were put out without any material damage resulting to the structure. This is the second occasion that this bridge has been discovered afire.

A man who was wanted at Hawera on a charge of failing to maintain his wife was arrested by the Featherston police on Friday, and remanded to appear at Hawere on Tuesday.
