THE LATE CONDUCTOR HOLROYD
The popularity of the late conductor Mr Frank Hoh-oyd, who was drowned while bathing at Lyall Bay, was emphasised at the funeral which took place to-day. Headed by the Tramway Military Band •under Mr. T. Goodall the cortege left Newtown at 10 a.m. and passed through the main city thoroughfares en route to Karori. Practically the whole of the p.m. shift attended—about 170 tramwaymen—who marched impressively in two long single files. The pall bearers were fellow-workers of the deceased. The City Council was represented by Councillor P. Eraser, M.P., and the Tramway Department by Mr. D. M'Gillivray, Traffic Manager, and members" of the staff of inispectors. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. Eric Rice.
