WELLINGTON SOUTH CIRCUIT.
The quarterly meeting of the Wellington South Methodist Circuit was held in Trinity Church last night. There was a large representation of the three churches The Rev. E. Drake, superintendent, presided. The finances of the circuit were shown to be in a bnoyant positionbetter than for many years—and the membership rolls were about the same as last quarter.
■It was reported that the sum of £44 16s 5d was in hand for the Home' Mission Fund. The Sunday school reports were considered very satisfactory, from all points of view.
Foreign missionery secretaries were appointed as follows : —Trinity Church, M. A. Martin; Donald M'Lean-street, Mr. Feltham; Island Bay, Mr. Dixon. Votes of thanks for special services rendered, were passed to Miss Ivy Potts, Messrs. Hoare, Brooks, and Goodhad. Mr. R. A. Fergueon, was elected home mission secretary, vice Mr. Goodhad, who resigned. The circuit stewards, Messrs. S. T. Martin and H. S. Pillar, were Te-elected, and a motion that their services be recorded in the minute book was carried unanimously. Delegates to conference to be held in Auckland are as follows : —Messrs. 0. Swiney and H. S. Pillar; substitutes, Messrs. T. S. Martin, and Dixon.
It was resolved that Mr. E. Downer be appointed a local preacher on trial, also that Mr. A. H. de C. Brooks be recommended to prepare himself to go on the next quarterly plan as a local preacher.
A petition from the DonalS M'Leanstreet Church, which desires to alter its status provoked very much discussion. No finality being reached, the meeting wae adjourned sine die.
