The New South Wales team met the most; solid opposition, so far, in their Dominion tour in a match to-day against Marlborough, when ideal football weather conditions were favourable ito a ,good display of Rugby. Early in the game it was apparent that the, activity of the Marlborough- forwards jn the loose would be a factor in checking the back play of the visitors, and pasdjng movements generally met with solid tackling. First score came to Marlborough shortly after the kick off, but by the end of the spell the visitors'had made up the leeway by attractive back play, ithe score being 11 all. . ' In the second half the visitors added one converted try and a penalty goal, which was kicked by Mingay. The later thus brought his record of goal-kick-ing for the tour to thirteen successes out of fifteen attempts. In this spell the back play of the visitors was sparkling at times. Marlborough made a determined effort to increase their score, but frequent infringements spoiled several promising attacks, and the final scores were : t New South Wales 19, Marlborough 11. Tries were obtained for the visitors by Wallace and Stanley (2), and M'Kay and Mingay each converted one, while the latter placed a penalty goal. For Marlborough, tries were scored by Woolley, Gleeson, and Byrne^, one being converted by R. O'Brien. '
