ANNUAL MEETING OF NEW ZEA-

LAND SOCIETY.

Members of the New Zealand Society of Accountants held their annual meeting l last evening. Mr, Walter Green, of Dunedin, presided, and there was a large attendance.

Extracts from the annual report and balance-sheet have already been published in The Post.

In moving the adoption of the annual report, the president referred to the increased expenses that had had to be met. There were still some members who were feeling the effects of their war service and these could rest assured that!' the society would give them alltho assistance within its power. The president went on to refer to the increased demand for qualified accountants, and the ever-widening field of activity. He stressed the -need for commercial training tin the schools. In this respect Britain had Been content to lag behuid, but she now realised that if she was to combat her rivals in the fields ot commerce she must devote more attention to commercial training. This matter had also been taken up m Australia. It' was to be hoped that a combined effort would, Toefore long, be made in New Zealand; The motion was seconded by Mr. *j. !W. Hutchison, and carried after a, brief discussion.'
