CROYDON SCHOOL
ANNUAL BOXING TOURNAMENT.
The annual boxing tournament of the Diocesan Boys' School, Day's Bay, was held on Monday and Tuesday. The weather was fine, and the many, friends a.nd parents of the boys, who witnessed the bouts were more than pleased' with the exhibitions given. The Rev. R. H. Hobday, principal of the school, in opening the tournament, referred to the beneficial results derived from boxing, not only by quickening the action of. eye and brain, but also by cultivating a manly spirit and a physical fitness which is essential. Mr. Staples, the referee, and Mr. Press, the timekeeper, were assisted by Messrs. Woodward andl Smith (masters), and Mr. Alan' MaxwellJ the instructor.

liio referee declared Stace to be the most scientific boxer at the tournament.
