FORMER TESTS
One hundred and ten centuries have been scored in Teste between England and Australia.. Of the three-figure .'innings, B. E,. Foster heads the list with 287, compiled on the Sydney wicket in December, ,1903. W. L. Murdoch i* eecond, with 211, made at The Oval on 11th and 12th August,, 1884. S. E. Gregory,, received a handsome presentation for his 201, At Sydney in December, 1894. In January, 1898, J. Darling, C. E. M'Leod, S. E> Gregory, F. A. Iredale, M. A. Noble,%<nd G.<H..S. Trotfc were out for 58, when H. Trutnble joined 0. Hill and stopped the "rol." The South Australian helped himself to 188 on the Melbourne wicket before he was caught by A. E. Stoddatrt, off J. T. Hestfne; one run more than J. B. Hobbs realised on the Adelaide wicket in.Janflary, 1912.' In the match at Sydney when R. E. Foster obtained the record score in Tests, V. Tmmper in Australia's second innings went in first, and was undefeated with 185, three runs more than o'. P. Mead, of Hampshire, notched before his captain 'declared the first innings of the 104 th Test closed. .. This is the second century Mead has obtained off the Australian attack,, as he scored 129 recently for Hampshire. 0. P. Mead was in Australia during the 1911-12 summer.
